Small Business Love

One of the things I love most is small business. I’m astonished by the number of people who have the bravery and tenacity to bet on themselves—those who have ideas and are willing to plant their flags on a spark of curiosity that might or might not work.

Most great things don’t start in giant complexes or 50-person meetings, but in garages and on the backs of napkins. In midnight brainstorms and early morning walks.

I also love the people who choose to work in small businesses. These people are all heart and soul—they give an idea legs. They share their talents and their time because they want to contribute to something authentic and meaningful.

So this year, we’re shaking things up a bit. Our team is sending our Valentine's love to all the small businesses we appreciate and patronize most. They’re highlighted here for you to enjoy, but we’re also leaving 5-star reviews on their Google profiles. For small businesses, that’s better than chocolate and wine any day.

Happy Valentine's, friends. Go share the love.

Columbia Antique Marketplace

We love a good, found object, and Columbia Antique Marketplace—just south of Nashville—is full of unique furniture and decor discoveries that feel so rich in character. The staff is lovely, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do.

Consider the Wldflwrs

There are two pieces of jewelry I wear everyday: my wedding band, and a necklace engraved with my daughter's name that I got from Consider the Wldflwrs. There's an heirloom quality and original design that makes it immensely personal to me, and the quality is lasting so I'll be able to pass it down one day to my little one. Emily and Ben, the owners, could not be more creative, thoughtful humans, and their hearts are so apparent in their collection.

FLWR Shop

I'm a sucker for a carefully-designed set of blooms. FLWR Shop's arrangements always have this amazing artistic quality. I so appreciate designers who can make creations that are of the moment, but which have a timeless sensibility. The FLWR Shop's arrangements accomplish just that—sparking something that feels simultaneously familiar but original.

Herban Market

Call us partial, but we're a sucker for a great husband and wife business. Herban Market has everything we adore: a wine bar, a kid-friendly menu, organic ingredients, a tailored grocery, and the warmest most welcoming threshold.

Holiday Salon and Bathhouse

I love anything that hints of European, so Finnish-inspired Holiday Salon & Bathhouse is speaking my language. I get my hair done here regularly with the lovely Dani who works her wavy magic in ways I can never seem to replicate. And the owner, Mel, pushed this vision of a comprehensive salon through with such heart. Venture here for a hot stone massage, a soak and sauna, or a fresh trim. Event better, try all three. Certainly you deserve it.

Ladybird Taco

Tacos and coffee? Yes, please. Ladybird Taco is a go-to for a good meal any time, but it hits the spot for Saturday morning breakfast burritos. The place has a special, neighborly vibe that makes you feel immediately at home in your best friend's kitchen. Hot tip: Try the AGT coffee drink, named after our team member, Alison!

Little Seed Farm

Little Seed Farm is a staple in the organic skincare community. More and more people value what they're putting on and in their bodies, and LSF makes it so easy and approachable. Go for the skincare, stay for the goats.

Nashville Pilates Company

I've been taking pilates with Ronni at Nashville Pilates for over 5 years. That's a testament solely to Ronni and her teaching style. She's one of the most kind, encouraging people in Nashville, but she's also such an expert in her field. She challenges and pushes me, tailoring our workouts to show me what my body and wellbeing are capable of. Working with her is consistently the best choice I make for my health.

Skin Pharm

Skincare can feel so unnecessarily complicated, like learning a second language. I so appreciate the clarity and simplicty Skin Pharm takes, which feels novel in the industry. Their spaces are beautiful (always a plus in my book), and the owner, Meghan, is just a powerhouse of an entrepreneur who does the extraordinary act of blazing trails while raising a family with such warmth.

Vibrant Meals

I really appreciate eating wholesome, healthy meals, but I'm really horrid about finding time to prep and sit down to eat, especially at lunch. Enter: Vibrant Meals. This little gem—started in Chattanooga, now with a Nashville hub—has saved me from the hangry with fresh, prepared meals you reheat. Try the Garlic Sheet Pan Chicken and thank me later.
